Item: Carved .69 Caliber Three Ring Bullet
Condition: Excavated. Overall white patina. Much of the upper body was carved or whittled into a cluster of what may be hair or a fancy hat.
Recovered: Unknown
Approximate size: .699-inch diameter; .910-inch length.
Comments: Occasionally Civil War period bullets are recovered with whittle marks or, in rare instances, intricate carvings, hand-crafted by soldiers just to pass the time. As is the case with many carved examples, often one must use their imagination to determine exactly what the carving represents, if anything. What is most important is the fact that we believe it to have been personally handled by a Civil War soldier. This carved example will be an excellent addition to any excavated carved Civil War bullet or general relic collection.
