Lead was used in the manufacturing of Civil War bullets, musket balls, accoutrement plates, artillery sabots, canister and various other items. The 21 pounds of scrap lead offered here was recovered from various Civil War sites by local Virginia relic diggers. Some of the lead recovered was the result of projectile splatter, melted from fires and out-of-round musket balls. Most pieces have white or grey-white patinas. The scrap lead pictured is a Virginia Relics stock image and is representative of the type off lead you will receive.
Just how much does 21 pounds of scrap lead look like?
