Condition: Very good, excavated. Dusty grey patina with very small surface chip at the tip.

Comments: A similar example of this bullet and a .36 caliber Savage "Navy" revolver can be found in "Round Ball to Rimfire, Part Two" by Dean Thomas, on pages 143 & 145, item 917. Another similar .36 caliber Savage bullet is found in "Civil War Projectiles II Small Arms & Field Artillery with Supplement" by W. Reid McKee and M. E. Mason, Jr. on page 28, item # 126. Hayes revolver bullets are not often recovered and this example will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War bullet or general relic collection.
