This powder horn is an excellent example and is out of an old central Virginia Civil War relic collection. I am an uncertain as to what period of history this piece is originally from but it is clearly old, and in good solid condition. The large end has a wooden plug secured by tiny nails hammered in from the side of the horn near its edge. The length of the horn is approximately 7 inches and the diameter of the horn at its widest is 2 inches. There is a wood stopper and leather sling that may or may not be original to the horn. There are no cracks, breaks, or repairs. This piece would look great in a display with other campsite relics, muskets, or hanging by a fireplace in a den or family room.
