Item: Pre-Civil War US Artillery Militia Coat Button
Backmark: "EXTRA RICH / M&C" rm
Construction: Low convex, two-piece.
Approximate size: 20 mm.
Condition: Good, excavated, shank missing with rear pushed into back of front. Pleasing brown patina with moderate push between right of eagle's head and left wing. The front of the button is worn making the "A" difficult to see, but it is definitely there. There are no cracks, breaks, or repairs.
Recovered: Augusta, GA area.
Reference: Tice: unl. Albert: AY 75.
Comments: This fine early artillery button will be an excellent addition to any excavated pre-Civil War button or general relic collection.
