Item: Pre-Civil War Army, General Service Coat Button 1808-1830 - "US"
Backmark: ". PHILa . / W.P" rm
Design: Tall letters "US" on a plain field with a six pointed star between.
Construction: Flat, one piece, cast pewter.
Approximate size: 19 mm.
Condition: Good, excavated, shank present. The button has a dark grey patina with surface ground action. While the letters "US" and star are faint they are definitely there. Shank is bent over to button back. There are no cracks or repairs.
Recovered: Unknown.
