Three-Piece Shaler Bullet - Middle Section

SOLD

Item: Three-piece Shaler bullet - middle section.
Condition: Very good. White patina with remaining soil and nice round skirt.  Perfect excavated condition with no dings, dents, or breaks.
Comments:  This relic is the middle section to the three piece Shaler bullet which is by far one of the most interesting bullets from the Civil War. It was invented by Reuben Shaler and patented on August 12, 1862. After it was fired, the three sections would spread apart allowing for more impact points on its designated target.  Should you have the top two sections, this base section will be an excellent addition to complete your Shaler bullet.  Or, if you are starting to assemble the three pieces to form a complete example, then this will be a excellent beginning.
