Item: "Snake" Buckle
Construction: Cast brass.
Design: S-shape with raised center floral design and scales to either side, with serpent heads at each end.
Condition: Excellent, excavated, missing keepers. In good form with a dusty green patina. There are no cracks, breaks, bends, or repairs.
Recovered: Albemarle County, VA.
Approximate size: 22 x 41 mm.

Comments: This snake buckle was acquired directly from the local Virginia digger. They were an imported multi-piece buckle used by both Federal and Confederate troops. This central portion will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War buckle or general relic collection.
