Item: South Carolina State Seal Button
Backmark: ". * . EXTRA . * . / RICH" rmdc
Construction: Convex, two-piece.
Approximate size: 18 mm.
Condition: Very good, excavated, secure shank present. This button has a light green patina with areas of reddish-brown hues and residual yellow soil. There is a slight push to the rear and, as a result, a very small crack formed and is situated under the "EX" of "EXTRA". It has no repairs, other pushes or cracks.
Recovered: July 1990 - "north field old Creighton Road, northwest of "Dr. Friend" house" in Henrico County, VA.
Comments: This button will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War button or general relic collection.
