Backmark: ". HORSTMANN & ALLIEN / N Y"
Construction: Convex, two-piece.
Approximate size: 23 mm.
Condition: Excellent, excavated, secure shank present. The face of this button has a dusty dark brown patina with no pushes, cracks, breaks, or repairs.
Comments: This is the type of South Carolina button where the latin word "OPIBUSQUE" in its motto is mispelled "OPIRUSQUE". It is a fine example that will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War button or general relic collection.
Recovered: Cedar Creek, VA.
