Item: South Carolina State Seal Coat Button
Backmark: "W. H. HORSTMANN & CO / N. YORK" rmdc
Construction: Convex, two-piece.
Approximate size: 19 mm.
Condition: Good, excavated, shank missing. There is a push to the center front and ample gilt remaing there, and also in the state motto of "ANIMIS OPIBUSQUE PARATI" which translates to "Prepared In Mind And Resources". There are no cracks or repairs.
Recovered: Wilmington, NC
Comments: This button will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War button or general relic collection.
