Item: South Carolina State Seal Cuff Button - Initials "SC"

Description: From Tice: "small state coat of arms with lined fields, and initials "SC." Arrows of the device are large"
Construction: Convex, two-piece.
Approximate size: 14 mm.
Condition: Excellent, excavated, shank present. This button has a rich brown patina with ample gilt. It has no pushes, cracks, breaks, or repairs. The state motto of "ANIMIS OPIBUSQUE PARATI" which translates to "Prepared In Mind And Resources", is present.
Recovered: During the 1970s from the Petersburg, VA area.

Comments: This button was acquired directly from the digger and will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War button or general relic collection.
