Item: Three 1.05 Inch Canister Shot - New Market, VA
Construction: Cast iron.
Approximate size: Diameter: 1.05 inches. Approximate average weight: 2.67 ounces per shot. (Note: diameter and weight measurements will vary slightly due to surface rust build-up and degradation)
Condition: Excellent, excavated, with light surface pitting and rust build-up. Mold seams and sprues may be visible. These canister have not been treated or coated and are in the same condition as they were on the day that they were recovered. No repairs.
Recovered: New Market, VA area.
Comments: These artillery canister shot were acquired directly from the digger who hunted various Civil War battle sites in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia during the 1960s & 70s. They will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War artillery or general relic collection.
