This very large .70 caliber British rifled musket bullet is an unusually tall bullet with thick walls and a plug cavity. Using Dean S. Thomas' "Round Ball to Rimfire, Part Four" which covers Confederate bullets, this example was identified from page 240, as item 594. The bullet has a very nice white patina and its diameter measures approximately .660 inches and its length approximately 1.12 inches. The base rim has a small cut out area that is likely a casting flaw but the bullet will still stand erect. This unusual bullet will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War bullet or general relic collection.
