Item: Excavated US Belt Buckle
Construction: Stamped thin sheet brass with raised letters "US". Rear with solder fill and arrow type belt attachment hooks.
Condition: Very good, excavated. Its brass front has a brown patina with a couple areas of soil encrusted green tints. The rim has mild chpping in various areas with a slight upward bend in the area of the right serif of the letter "S". The rear has a near complete complement of solder and all three belt attachment hooks. The plate has no cracks or repairs.
Recovered: In the area of Hatcher's Run, Dinwiddie, VA
Approximate size: 55 x 86 mm.
Comments: This buckle will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War plate or general relic collection.
