Comments: This small US belt buckle is one of the finest examples I have ever handled and it will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War accoutrement plate or general relic collection.
In the fall of 1985 five fairly unknown relic hunters from various parts of the United States convened in LaGrange, TN for one day of relic hunting. The story of this hunt, "Explore: Grierson's Cavalry Camp", is documented in an issue of the North South Trader magazine, Volume XIII, Number 2. The article mentions Grierson's Raid, occurring April 17 to May 2, 1863, that the 1959 movie, "The Horse Soldiers", starring John Wayne and William Holden, was based on.
