Item: US Bridle Rosette
Construction: Stamped sheet brass with raised letters "US", rear solder fill, four brass attachment wires (missing).
Condition: Good, excavated, solid. Chocolate brown patina. Slightly concaved body. Rim has minor nicks. The rear contains most of the solder with some surface flaking and a missing portion at one area of the rim. Attachment wires missing. No repairs.
Recovered: Harrison's Landing, VA.
Approximate size: 1-3/16 inches.

Comments: This rosette was acquired directly from the late Gene Cooley many years ago. Gene was local Virginia legend who relic hunted primarily east of Richmond since the 1960s. Click on his name above to read more about Gene and his story. This rosette will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War cavalry or general relic collection.
Additional information: Harrison's Landing, was the site of General George McClellan's encampment during the summer of 1862 after the battle of Malvern Hill, the last of the Seven Days Battles.
