US Cartridge Box Plate

Item: ExcavatedUS cartridge box plate.
Construction: Stamped thin sheet brass with solder fill.
Condition: Fair. Brass face has a chocolate varied brown patina with light coating of yellowed soil. There is a rust crack/bump on the "S" of its brass face with bends and cracks in the brass at the rim. The rear solder shows heavy surface flaking and is pebbled. The two iron attachment loops are missing and the plate has not been repaired.
Comments: This plate has that war torn appearance and will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War plate or general relic collection.
Recovered: In the vicintity of Wilderness, VA
Approximate diameter: 56 x 88 mm.
