This excavated full length ramrod with swell, for US Model-1861 Springfield or Contract musket, is in very good condition. It was acquired directly from the digger who recovered it in the area of Wilderness, VA in the 1970s. It has the tulip style top with swell that begins approximately four inches below the top. It appears to have been run through electrolysis and lightly clear coated several decades ago. It measures approximately 39-5/8 inches in length and, while its overall surface is moderately pitted, it is in good solid condition. This near perfectly straight ramrod will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War firearm, battlefield, or general relic collection.
