Item: Excavated US oval waist belt plate.
Construction: Stamped thin sheet brass with solder fill and stud or "puppy paw" type brass attachment hooks.
Condition: Very good. Its brass front has a very attractive green patina with no cracks or breaks. The rear solder is complete and solid with all three belt attachment hooks present. There is a period dent at the rim on the stud end of the plate with no bright brass showing. It has a very nice body curve and a very pleasing overall appearance. This US belt plate has no repairs and will be an excellent addition to any excavated Civil War plate or general relic collection.
Recovered: Henrico County, VA near Richmond International Raceway.
Approximate size: 54 x 83 mm.
