: "R & W. ROBINSON" dm on ribbon with an eagle between the swallowtail ends.
Construction: Low convex, two-piece.
Approximate size: 21 mm.
Condition: Excellent, non-excavated, secure shank with coat thread remnant. This very well made button was heavily gilted and still has a beautiful brilliant patina with no pushes, cracks, breaks, or repairs.

Comment:
 If you are looking for high quality then this button is for you. This is the type that shows the spear tip touching the bottom of the letter "E" in "CADET". It is the R & W Robinson back mark that is typically found on excavated examples of these buttons from Civil War sites. This non-excavated VMI coat button will be an excellent addition to any Civil War button or general relic collection.
